CS 1121 CodeLab

CodeLab assignments count 5% of your grade, and are to be done on your own time. There are weekly due dates for problems - in general a set of problems will be due every Sunday at 10pm, starting on September 13th.


You must get your initial password for CodeLab by typing the following command when logged into a CSLab computer:

Once logged in to Codelab, you can (and should) change the password by clicking on the PREFERENCES button at the top of the CodeLab screen.

To work on the CodeLab assignments, go to the website: www.turingscraft.com There are several steps before you can begin:

  1. You must enable popup windows in your web browser for CodeLab to work correctly.

  2. Under STUDENTS and FACULTY: select Click here to login to your CodeLab account.

  3. Log in using your email address as your username (e.g., me@mtu.edu) and the password you were given.

  4. Click on the "load" button next to the entry for Fall 2009 (should be the first one in the list).

  5. Click on the + sign next to the word "JAVA CODELAB". Skip this step if there is a - sign.

  6. Click on the + sign next to the due date of the next set of Codelab problems (e.g., September 13th). Skip this step if there is a - sign.

  7. Click on a problem number, see the problem statement on the left, put your solution in the box below it, click on submit, and you're off.

  8. Click on the + sign next to any subcategory of problems under the due date to see more problems for that due date.

If you need help, talk to your instructor, your lab TA, or a CS Learning Center coach.

Finish all the problems for a given due date for full credit. Problems cannot be completed for credit after the due date.
